The End of It All

The End of It All

A Story by Taylor Crosby

Maybe there was a way to escape it all. The torment. The pressure. The constant struggles. Maybe she could just stop it all. Right in it's tracks. Her best friend would say that it wasn't the answer. But her best friend was dead. There was no one to tell her not to do it, no one to tell her right or wrong, no one to help her steer clear of the exact thing that was holding her back. She was alone. And she hated it. She swallowed the last of the pills. She couldn't take it any more. There was nothing left for her to live for. Nothing to motivate her. She was just...done. All her anger and sadness and confusion seemed to seep right out of her pores, and she felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. And then suddenly she was drifting. She felt weightless, nothing was holding her back now. It was time to end it all. It was time to see her best friend again. She is being sucked away from the world, her spirit floating into the abyss. Above her, a bright, white light. Yet she didn't have to squint. Below her, a dark, seemingly bottomless void. Suddenly, she was being tugged down. By a force. An invisible force. She screamed, and begged for mercy, but the force persevered. Finally, it ended, as she was dragged into the fiery depths of the Devil's kingdom.
