Once I had ulcers

Once I had ulcers

A Poem by Bookmanpc
"

there will be new stuff soon.

"

Once I had ulcers…

From keeping it all inside,
I'd never turn from an argument,

My true feelings I did hide.

Once I had ulcers…

I worked most of the hours of the day,

Thinking to earn myself praise

And a partner along the way.

Once I had ulcers…

And was a 'convenient' macho man,

Full of keeping it all in,

And going along with others plans.

Once I had ulcers…

Then slowly did I see,

That attitude though important

SHOULD be decided just by me.

Once I had ulcers…

Those that will tell you to "grow up"

And learn to play along

Do not have your interests in mind.

Once I had ulcers…

No more, for I've learned sometimes to cry,

living on the outside, for me first and

Not blindly accepting the slights of goodbye.

So there is this guy who used to just go along, try to keep it smooth...everybody happy......Getting kicked in the teeth in the process......losing at love......and then: "Hey! I don't have to do it like this, I am more important!......and so gains ego and clarity of vision. With attitude.
Thats what it says to me anyway. And with nice rhythm as well!
I particularly like the words of the next to the last stanza.
Good Poem!
And yes, post some more!

Oh Lloyd...I love this! You are showing us a piece of your heart...men usually have such a hard time doing that, I'm so glad you've learned to let your true self show . Thank you for sharing it with us ;-)

An honest approach on non-expression. It's nice to see someone at least admit to their personal secret keeping, and how negative it can be on the human body & soul.

I liked this one. It's nice to see how change and progress and make a better turn in our lives. Personal growth is a beautiful thing and shows everyone else around that you're taking life in and using what you've learned to better yourself.

Nicely done.
