Ebony

A Poem by ale
"

i decided to write about my personal shift in a pantoum <3

"
I have to get out of the lab soon
Or else I'll miss the bus at 6:30.
My teacher is old and British
And I don't like him.

I miss the bus at 6:30.
Suddenly, I feel a pang in my chest--
I don't like him, that man,
Looking at me like I am a child.

I feel a pang in my chest
As I go to the hospital.
The nurse looks at me like I am a child,
Then I'm out like a maimed bird, in no time at all.

I already went to the hospital,
I'll take my pills and talk to a shrink,
Out like a bird, in no time at all,
Free from the burden of the mind's eye.

I still take my pills and talk to a shrink
World now seeming as colourful as gold and ebony
Free from the burden of the mind's eye,
Now starting to care for me and myself.

Now my place is not here
I get out of the lab
Then cuddle in my giant sheets
Which I like, unlike him.
