Ode to a Living Brother from a Ghost SisterA Poem by alei cried while writing thisWe are the power, always connected. We have the strength to move on With one single note, Never losing our heads. I almost lost my head But you held me until I died in your arms And I could not talk but I could feel you there, embracing me With the grace a big brother could only have. As I went on to the other side, I could feel the inside of your head and eyes. Oh, brother. If I could have held you as you did to me I would have done it. But I couldn’t. I remember before we left the airport Our father told you to take care of me And you felt like a failure Because you didn’t take care of me enough. It was not your fault. You did the right thing. You being beside me Was all I needed. I was with you all those cold nights. I was with you every time you wanted to cry, so I cried for you. I was with you inside the metal cave among the corpses. I know you knew that, because you never stopped remembering me. I gave you the strength, A puma locked in a cage, To walk with your friend To see our father again. I sent you the horse. A surprise that I knew you needed. You followed my messages Because I know you would have done it anyway. The best thing I could ever witness, Was that I saw you grow old. What joy! You look exactly the way I imagined, And with the same exact spirit when I was alive. Keep remembering me, brother. Because when the time comes I will embrace you as you did all those years ago So you can come with me to the other side. © 2024 ale |
