En la Ciudad de la FuriaA Poem by aletraslated from spanish. based on the song "En La Ciudad de la Furia" ("In the City of Fury") by the rock band Soda Stereo. No one knows but Every night when it gets dark I grow huge wings to circle around and Above the City of Fury. My ritual starts when I walk to that blue street, hidden I take off my shirt so that my wings Grow out easier. It hurts when I transform; Like some willow-leaf red quebracho trees coming out of my spine That root themselves deeply and Stretch the muscles of my back. When the transformation is done, I put on my shirt again To start flying Over the City of Fury. I see people from above that don't know that They do terrible things in the streets I want to hide in the arms And the legs of my lover. But sometimes I come near the people That do good in the streets And I submerge myself like a wild arrow, a bird At the place where they are standing. I want to speak to these people But they get scared when they see my wings, Their faces full of terror; it's Time for me to leave--I start to fly. When the morning finally arrives I feel that my wings melt; That's why the darkness calms me, I feel sure of myself. Even if the City is good and bad, Sometimes I get surprised when I wish To get rid of my big wings And I start to long for the land, The City of Fury. © 2023 aleAuthor's Note
