Erica Daniels and the CityA Story by bookaholic13Chapter One: The City Erica Daniels extended her long arm and looked at her newly manicured hand. "$13.00. Worth every penny" Erica thought as she tipped the manicurist and left the nail salon. Erica Daniels had long legs, with very straight, yet incredibly soft hair (thanks to her celebrity hair stylist that Erica hired for her everyday hair look) that had all the guys stare at her. She tossed her shiny, long black hair over her shoulder and proceeded to walk to a New York City taxi and waved her perfectly manicured hand once and almost immediately, a taxi driver appeared. "11th Avenue, Barney's, and please, I'm in a hurry" Erica sighed with an exasperated expression glued to her face. She was known for her flirtatious and over dramatic personality. The taxi driver screeched to a stop and Erica handed over a twenty to the male driver that reaked of cigarrettes. Right as she closed the door, she said, "If you want to smell good and impress ladies, you might want to stop smoking that filthy cheap item you posess in your hand." The driver gave her a funny look and then darted off, to who knows where. Erica smiled and thought to herself, "Wow, you are so kind giving strangers amazing advice that they'll (hopefully) use and take advantage of." Erica moved her right foot foward, that consisted of a $1,500 dollar Prada wedges, and continued walking into Barney's to find a new dress to wear for her new job interview at Vogue Magazine.
Chapter Two: Can I help you? Erica pushed the heavy glass doors and allowed herself to enter the 31 floor building, where every desk, wall, and even aquarium, was covered in thick modern day glass. Wherever Erica looked, she saw chic dressed workers hurrying over with headsets and clipboards to different rooms and locations. Erica was about to walk over to a desk when a voice startled her. "Can I help you?" A business woman with a chic blonde bun, wearing a long, black business shirt and white ruffled Marc Jacobs top asked with an annoyed expression. "Oh, yes, hi, I am Erica Daniels, I scheduled an appointment with Ms. Burkens for three fifteen sharp." Erica made sure to say a statement, not a question, because she learned from her father that if you want to get places in life, you have to sound confident, without asking statements in the form of a question. "Hm, let me check with my co-worker, you may sit on the red couches over there, near the extraordinary plants that we have." The blonde business worker pointed with her long finger towards a very expensive looking kind of couch with some indeed extraordinary plants. Literally, extra ordinary looking. "Oh, that's quite alright I'll stay standing, please my time is precious and limited. So please, let's quicken things up." Erica said with an annoyed tone. "Sorry, miss.. uh, Daniels, but I don't think you've realized what company you are dealing with here." The blonde lady said with a funny look on her slightly tanned face. "Oh I do realize. I just don't think you realize who I am." Erica said with a comeback. "Hm, and who may that be, dear?" The thirty something worker asked with a slight grin. "I am Erica Daniels, daughter of William Daniels. You know? The senator of New York City? The man who runs the very business you are working in right now? And what was your name again? I must tell him of the service here at Vogue, for he would be rather interested to talk to your manager." Erica said with a relaxed voice, knowing she now has the power to get things she wants with no issue. "Oh, um, yes, I am very aware of his, um, lovely running in office, um tell him he is excellent at doing so. Um, my uh name is uh Stacy. Stacy Brown. Right this way, Ms. Daniels." Stacy stammered while quickly turning her back fast walking towards an elevator. "Ha, exactly how I should be treated." Erica thought while following the rude worker. Stacy quickly pulled out a white card and swiped it against a machine connected to the glass elevator, and quickly typed in a five digit code. The elevator immediately opened, and Stacy moved her legs and fixed her black high heels while the elevator closed. She pressed the floor number "26" and started scribbling notes or some kind of writing on her notepad attached to her clipboard. "Ms. Scott, I have a visitor with me, the senator's daughter, Erica Daniels, she claims to have an appointment with you?" Stacy Browns said into her headpiece. "Yes, okay, we are on our way up. In thirty seconds, yes we will hurry." Stacy said with a panicked look. "We have to quicken our pace. Now." The elevator doors opened and Stacy started sprinting/fast walking and Erica struggled to keep up and fixed her long black hair which she had put up into a high ponytail, which had a very smooth and nice style to it. "Ms. Scott will be waiting for you in a few minutes, you may relax right here for now." Stacy gestured towards black and white colored chairs right outside a blurred glassed room labeled, "Stephanie Scott, Head Manager of Vogue Magazine". Erica looked up towards an intercom which stated "Ms. Daniels, you may enter." © 2012 bookaholic13Author's Note
