Positivity

An attempt at a positive poem after seeing a lot of negative ones.

We can all use positivity,

A little from time to time.

A nice word or a smile,

Perhaps a limerick in Rhyme.

Encouragement is needed,

For one and for all.

So I'm hoping to lift your spirit,

With my heartfelt scrawl.

This will go on for some time,

Or at least until you smile.

I’m know for my rambling,

So I can go on for a while.

It a joke you see,

This poem that I’m making.

A gag, a quip, a witticism,

A jest that I am baking.

For in this current time,

When all things may seem dreary.

I’m here to clown around,

Until I make you cheery.

I’ll pull my face,

Make a silly sound. 

Tell knock knock jokes,

And bounce around.

Or perhaps what you need,

Is something more sincere.

But for now all I have to give,

Is this hug with words my dear.

I can tell you that positivity,

Can be a hard thing to find.

But we’ll hunt for it together,

As it's easier when combined.

We’ll skip along and look,

Under every stick and rock.

Go to everyone we know,

And on their doors we’ll knock.

You may be surprised to see,

That it will be where you least expect.

Because you won't find it by looking,

As it’s not a real Object.

It’s a concept you can have,

Only in your mind.

But others can nurture it,

Simply by being kind.

So you see this was a lie,

A fib right from the start.

A trick to get you to smile,

And bring cheer to your heart.

Since positivity lives there,

And requires nurture to survive.

A smile and a laugh,

Will help it to thrive.

And if your still feeling negative,

Let me say just one more line.

Don’t you even dare think,

That's some sort of sign.

This is an excellent poem and exactly something we're in need of in these times. Personally I have felt the need for more positivity in my life as well, so this was a great read! I find hardship and sadness easier to write about, but I'm trying to be more positive in my writing too. This was a great inspiration :)

Glad you like it. I wrote this for pretty much the reason you mentioned, I'm part of a group that shares a lot of writing including poetry and a lot focuses on negative thoughts or events. So I wanted to try something different.
