Dear Dad,

Dear Dad,

A Poem by Bonnie

Why did you leave me dad?

I don’t even like to call you that.

Dad, Dad, Dad.

That label does not belong to you.

You don’t deserve it.

You weren’t even there when I took my first steps, at least in my eyes you weren’t.

I don’t like the idea of you.

I feel mixed emotions about you.

I feel angry about how you left me.

But also sad I never got a hug from you.

And jealous that someday you’re going to have another child,

A child that you’re going to be there for.

That’s something I never got from you

Dear dad, why did you leave me?
