Chapter 5A Chapter by Allison
The
old doctor turned and looked at me. “Assuming that you will need help with
transitioning into your new life, Here is someone who will be able to introduce
you to your new world.” The old man handed me a white business card. Suddenly,
the room became cold. A gossamer door floated down from Heaven, and opened. It
swung open to reveal a blue-white carnival. The Ferris wheel turned, and
children shouted their excitement from the very top. The old man became young
before my eyes. A young woman beckoned to him from inside the door. He stepped
slowly towards the door with a small smile
on his now wrinkle-less face. I stepped forward
too, and he turned around. “No young one. You must stay here. If you ever
travel into a memory world, you would forever be unhappy in another’s palace. It
is time for me to say farewell.” And with that, the old man stepped through the
door, and was no more. The door zoomed back up to heaven, and
disappeared. I stood staring at the place where it had vanished with mingled
curiosity and fear. Would I ever make it to my own door? Would I even have one?
