I Love YouA Poem by AllisonYou already know.....
We talked today.
For the first time in ages. I had to go. I said goodbye. But still, Three words sat on my tongue. Three words that made my mouth numb. I Love You. Dare I say them? Dare I let them slip? Would you answer, Would you cry? Would you answer, Would you try? I Love You. The pain of those words, sits in my mouth. Tasting them gives me oblivion. Knowing those words might not be returned fills me with sadness. Seeps into my brain like poison. Obliterates my mind until I forget. Forget where and who I am. Forget that I am alive. That there is a world behind your coppery curls, And pale freckled skin. I forget why I called you. The only thing that exists When I think of you, Is why we could never be together. It pains me to know, That no matter how much I love you so, I just cannot let you go. Not without letting those last three words slip out. Then wishing that they were back in my mouth.
