Imperfect

 I can’t be perfect for you.

I look mad 80% of the time.

My hair will always be messy.

I will get things stuck in my teeth when I eat.

We’ll get in fights because I’m stubborn.

I’m not popular; I don’t listen to that music or wear those clothes.

I’m not funny or gorgeous.

I don’t have perfectly white or straight teeth.

I’m not stick-thin or tan.

My laugh is weird and my eyes get squinty.

I’m lazy.

I’m not the best at anything I do.

I don’t always say the right thing.

I mess up a lot.

But that’s who I am

and I’m not changing for you.

Author's Note

Very personal poem and I am one of those people that has to write about things to get them out of my head, and this is what came out. I actually kind of like it, so that's why it's coming up here.
