Chapter 12: 2014

Despite your sadness, life goes on. You're halfway done with your last year of high school (finally), and, to your surprise, you're surviving quite nicely without that green-eyed girl you once loved. You've made new friends, even dated a boy or two, and you barely ever think about that beautiful girl--until one day, in the middle of January, she texts you.
Hey, Yvonne. It's been a while.
Yeah, no s**t, but why now? Why ever? You were just starting to get over this girl, move on with your life, and she makes the decision to come back into your life--and you hate her for it.
You never imagined that you could hate her, the only feeling you had every assumed you'd feel was love, but there it was. In plain black and white, the hatred you felt for Sarah was incredibly real. It was too hard for you to even see her name on your phone, much harder to accept her back into your life. So, being the coward that you are, you reply with the meanest thing you could ever say to her.
Sarah, I don't want to talk to you. It's been too long, and I just can't. Bye.
She doesn't reply for a few days, and you think it's completely over this time... except it's not. This is just the beginning of a new story, a new chapter in your life. The reunion of you and your first love.
