Broken Bottle Heart

Broken Bottle Heart

A Poem by boltsbutterfly

You can’t be there, I swear

It’s always been you

You make me hate myself

It’s all you ever do

Tongue in cheek

I see the stares

Lashing out at shadows

Here and there

And you think you’re too good for me

And I know it to be true

You can’t change the bitter ways

On the heartless avenue

Twisting words around

Making thoughts

becoming truths

You cheat on me

I bury you

And that is just what we do

I slap a round

Into my chest

My cars a home

A broken mess

I carry baggage on this road

And it’s only growing in it’s load

And I can’t think it through

There’s got to be more than this

I laid my heart on crooked lines

I wait for the car crash

But the time passes by

My bleeding heels

won’t let me forget

Every word

A regret

It’s pounding me with each slap of pavement

This heartless avenue

And I think of all the times we share

And I feel the breeze in my hair

They’re not here to mock and stare

Boxes of old disrepair

Kiss me

Like you used to

Follow me down this lonely road

My hearts a broken bottle

Find me off the shoulder

I’ll carry you a while

The road for me

will never end

I have to work

I have to mend

I’ll never feel

your arms again

And this how

the heartache stands

The heartless road that never ends

The heartless avenue
