Forgiving Death

Forgiving Death

A Poem by Erica B.

Death's toll is never needing to ask for forgiveness.

You are lost, scarred, and scared"but what of Death?

Do you believe that Death enjoys its work?
To collect souls stretching from their bodies,
trying to stitch themselves back to a vessel that no longer wants them...

Death watches on in sorrow for what must be done,
yet you believe Death owes you something.

What narrow-mindedness.
You seek peace at the end,
but refuse the road that leads you there.

Fearful of the unknown?
You face it every morning when you wake.

You forgive what you don’t know,
what you don’t understand"
but not Death? That should make you uncomfortable.

You should feel ashamed for wanting something
without understanding what it takes to get there.

We pride ourselves on being just in the moment.
But what of the present?

Why not present Death with forgiveness for its work?
Grant it peace of mind.

Death at some point come for everyone. It is inevitable. I believe in death we are escorted by a beautiful angel to our next destination for me that is heaven. Many times death is a comfort for the sick and fragile ailing person. It is a solace from the human earthly pain.

I believe you have described this and dug deep into this topic with great care and choice of words and lines in this piece
