Affiliated moments

A Poem by Debbie

What was the point of that second

The one that simply blared past

As if on a skateboard

A child with a spray can

Looking for a tag

And then it collected

A gang bang, bar fly, bandit Bandera,

Shifty-eyed-sheared-off sixty of them

We say

It was only a minute

And they too

Are pack rats

Collating, analyzing dust, fine tuning the rust,

Waltzing away with youth, carving my tombstone

And you expect me then

To rest in

Peace??

These are the basic tenets of breathing

One in, one out

The lover that swears undying affection

The one that then leaves

The child born

The elderly singing to death

All so cleverly arranged

That we have only that moment

Timed, to speak….

Or then, never again….

This is great. Cryptic with parts that couldn't be more crystal clear. I love it.
