Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

A Poem by Bob Sherunkle
"

Think of others from time to time.

"
As I walk through the streets shimmering in the winter rain,
All the faces pass beaten and half insane.

It's supposed to be a joyful time of year,
All I see is despair and fear.

Too much has been made to appease and spoil,
No one stops to think of others toil.

Next time you fret and worry about gifts, how many to feed,
Stop and think for a moment about the people in need.

Merry Christmas.

It is sad how we put so much on this holiday and making it "perfect' that we have no clue what it the holiday even means

nothing? You ok?
Ah! I think that the essence of Christmas is not all the parties we attend and the gifts we wrapped. We can always party, we can always give gifts. It would be nice if people do not make Christmas a reason to be spoiled despite of another person's (or communities') suffering. Ah, but it is not just Christmas. It happens all throughout the year.

Agreed !My sentiments exactly
This is the sad truth about christmas now. It's all about buying some frivolous s**t, instead of giving to people in need. Great write!

Thanks Trevor,,buying s**t we dont need!
Very true! Too many people only think about themselves at Christmas nowadays, it's supposed to be a time for giving, not receiving.

Many thanks H.E.
A pitifully sad but true reminder of what this time of year is like. Maybe an hour in a soup kitchen would do the trick for those rushing about without a care for the multitudinous 'withouts' whose Christmas day will be yet another without hope. People are entitled to reap the benefits of hard work or/and saving, that's life for goodness sake, but at least give something without wanting to profit, just once in a while. Thanks for the firm nudge in the ribs, Bob.
