Raised for slaughter, bred to sate the hunger of those deemed "superior". If we try to escape the killing floor we hit the electric fence, fried young and tender. Your reflection of the bureaucracy of life is brutally perceptive, and I found the line "take the enemy you cannot see" especially chilling. A powerful piece. Well done!

Matt, thanks man.Much appreciated.Unfortuantly, thhe majority are too blind to see this. Thanks again.
Powerful and clever, and would make a killer song. 'Do as your told for 800 a month' is one of those lines that is appropriately blunt and feels harsh enough in this context to drive the point home. Great work.

True that many are born and bred but we are all gifted with a heart and head. Neither sheep nor lemmings were we meant to be. Each of us is born with a different spark - each a small world to touch other small worlds or destroy them. The choices we make determine what we want to be. The system is not the end. It cannot make choices for us unless we allow it to. An individual can be born into a world, lost and bereft, but you cannot let it define you. The decision is always there to take it as a lemming or to work on yourself to become the light for others.

I read a Jack London story. He stated a similar ideal as in your poem. Men are just meat. No control and will rot one day. Best way to control a country. Low wages and no opportunities. A outstanding poem. I like the complete poem.

As a child of the 70's I think I see where your coming from here. It makes me think of those family members that served with distinction between 1964 and 1975. Well done sir.

He Raymond,War is a big theme in thsis. Many thanks for taking the time
I immediately thought, warfare or working poor. Broke my heart either way . Like the others I think its a sad truth. The best way to deal with it is to repeat, "It is, what it is". Otherwise you go crazy.
