Where once you slept

Where once you slept

A Poem by Bob Sherunkle
"

Have to stop losing girfriends!

"
Tear stain branded on the pillowcase,
A smear of mascarra drawn down.
Where you once slept.

Vague smell of your scent languishes and floats,
like a cloud, lost and turning darker by the minute.

I still see you lying there half asleep, half smiling.
Eyes aching to open, the sunlight winning the battle,
for you to keep them shut, tight.

I know this. The leftover scent, fingers trailing down sheets where a body used to lie. It's heartbreak defined.

So incredibly beautiful.

Hey, I really like the metaphors being presented in this poem. I can envision the story being told here clearly. Great job, man!
