love (lust) for the ravenous man

love (lust) for the ravenous man

A Poem by ashley

free my love from the burden of a cage

break open my ribs

tear out my heart

and eat it from the inside out

devour my lust

and trade it for love

scorch my skin with the heat of your body

taste the way i love you

and the whole depth of my being

like i'm the last thing you'll eat

until you hear me scream from my soul

"lord save me from this ravenous man"

where my spirit lies

a piece of you is left to rot

encapsulated

my hungry heart savours your sunken teeth

Author's Note

ashley
i've been on a yearning streak & i keep writing about 'hunger', i feel like hunger is the most applicable word to describe the weight of desperation i feel. because hunger is something that comes back, hunger needs to be fulfilled at some point, you cant ignore it forever. i feel like its a word thats resonates with me heavily right now

I am captivated by its imagery and the delicate weaving of psychological and emotional sensations with physical experiences.
