two become one

it is hard to keep a blank face when i hear your agony.

i know my eyes will betray me.

it’s like the very atoms of my soul know you are near because i can sense you in every breeze, in every sigh and breath of the air around me.

i have walked through the ruins of my life,

of the destruction and war of my past.

i have witnessed the calamity of my anguish; i have periled against it.

i am merely a shadow of myself which longs to be near to you.

i have always thought the most destructive force was the trauma of war.

the hatred of humanity.

but i forgot that the greatest fatal force is the opposite: it is the yearning between two people who cannot be together.

looking into your eyes at that moment, i knew it.

i felt it.

whatever makes up the fabric of our souls,

yours and mine are the same.

i saw it in your eyes at that second.

we were one soul.

i want to tell you to take care of yourself,

to be careful with your heart and humanity.

but, you are my heart,

my humanity. 

so care for me.

do not leave me ravaged with the thought of seeing you empty your soul into violence and anger.
