what ive prayed for

what ive prayed for

A Poem by ashley

the peace that ive prayed for exists as boredom,

the patience ive prayed for exists as long lines and red lights,

the love that ive prayed for exists as revealing the true nature of those around me,

the joy that ive prayed for exists as a burst of creativity,

the reassurance ive prayed for exists as an interaction with a stranger,

the forgiveness ive prayed for exists as a dying plant coming alive,

the innocence ive prayed for exists as childish impulses & desires,

the repentance ive prayed for exists as withdrawls & reasoning.

Ashley,
Hahahaha... I'm in my seventies, and remember fifty years ago praying for patience... worst mistake of my life... If I didn't know better, I'd say ALL traffic lights are red, and all lines are long...
