Life Extraordinary

Life Extraordinary

A Poem by B.L.North
"

just a little mindless pondering, work in progress

"
The sun is a mass of incandescent gas.
Courtesy of seventh grade science with a catchy little song to make it stick.
Not included was the lesson to delight in it's warmth.

Treat others they way you want to be treated.
Pithy poster laminated in a kindergarten classroom.
Never was I nudged to ponder how I wanted to be treated.

In 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
Fourth grade history packaged into a clever little limerick.
No encouragement to spend a quiet afternoon on a boat of my own.

Facts and formulas. Etiquettes and equations.
School gives us the knowledge to be exceptional in life's exams.
But fails to give us wisdom to test what makes life extraordinary.

Nice imagery. When I was reading this, I visualized that a beautiful teacher`s teaching her readers an important lesson/chapter of life to make everyone`s life extraordinary---A better living. I like the concept, you`ve co-related the "fundamentals of life" with "life" itself. Quiet impressive. I`d be looking forward to reading your stuffs!

yeah, this is good.

it sounds old, like something that would've been in the newspaper in the twenties when they used to have people write poems and s**t, or short stories.

It's tight, true, and honest. The last three stanzas even have the same shape. Great poem. stick after it.
