Unnecessary Niceties

Unnecessary Niceties

A Poem by B.L.North
"

just a short little piece extolling on "the look" you get when telling someone you broke up.

"
Not so subtle pity perforating eyes.
Apathetic empathy surfaces as they begin to theorize.
"Who broke who?" and "It's not a big surprise".

Coos and caring gestures, condescending caricatures.
"You'll get through this" they ensure.
But what is "this"
and how do I get through
when there is nothing left existing of me and you?

yikes. pretty spot on. these are scariest sort of poems. Halloween should revolve around this s**t.

poem has a nice flow, and it looks gorgeous. like, a nice body and everything.

it's a good one.

a lot of big words in the first stanza. like 3 and 4 syllables. I don't know. Like, I don't know s**t. sometimes when there's a lot of those ones together, like, it overwhelms the thing because my brain has to capture these rhythms and all of these beats because of the syllables. Maybe the message you're trying to get across in the first stanza could run a little lighter? That's my only real critique, and again, I don't know what the f**k I'm talking about. Just figured you want something more than "best piece ever" etc.
