Slip Through Your Grasp

Slip Through Your Grasp

A Poem by Bmchugh135

Do you ever walk down a long hallway and wonder, “When will it ever end?”

I question that same thing, but only when it comes to time.

It’s like when you’re sitting in class and you constantly look at the clock every second of the day.

One minute it’s 11:30, and what feels like an hour has passed, you look at the clock again and it’s 11:31.

Time is something I will never understand for as long as I live.

Sometimes, we want it to speed up to leave work or buy the newest video game coming out next year.

Then, there are moments where we want it to slow down or go in reverse like an embarrassing situation or a moment with your crush.

There is no winning with time because it is the one thing in this world that we have no control over.

By speeding up time, we pass by moments we should cherish.

You miss out on opportunities in your life you will never experience or get back ever again.

If we slow down time, then we will never move forward in life.

I must admit being young is great, but I want to experience adulthood at one point, don’t you?

You see, time isn't something you should push aside or not worry about.

It flies by in a nano-second and you don’t even care.

Who here remembers summer like it was yesterday?

Well take a good look around; holiday sweaters, holiday music, and possible forecasts of snow.

Take my advice and don’t let time slip through your grasp so easily.

Don’t take it for granted and say, “I have all the time in the world!”

In reality, you don’t have as much time like you may think you have.

Who knows, this might be a memory passing by before your time is almost up.
