Awake but Gone

Awake but Gone

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

When you start feeling awake and alive

Try and give me truth in your eyes

I’ve been reborn and I don’t get another life

Telling the truth on the inside

Throwing out lies on those to the outside

Darkness begins to fill the room but I don’t need the light

I know that I can’t keep living in this way

My heart is so fragile that one word makes it break

Take my scars I don’t want to feel this pain

The love shatters now I’m reborn to hate

You left me empty and I just don’t feel the same

I don’t want to be here

I don’t want to exist

I’m obsolete you still want to take it away from me

You make take a look in the mirror

You make me fear

You are so damn addicted

You have my guard down

Now you left me to feel like s**t

There is no faith left in me

And you won’t stop until I bleed

I’m drowning in my own blood

I’ve had enough of falling on the ground

I won’t show any fear this time around
