Worthless

Worthless

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

You can take away your wasted smiles
I don't have to take this
I don't have to take your disgraced lies
we don't have to pretend
because we both knew that this was the end

I never knew that you could hurt me so much
drown me in the water until it turns to blood
I don't recognize you anymore, who have you become?
you are just another shadow beyond the sun

You tell me that i'm worthless
you tell me to go and waste away
i'm going to swallow the pain that hurts
you tell me to walk and fade away

I've walked the line of fire
but you left me there to die
the love i had for you was so high
it was out of the hands of anyone's reach
now i'm left with these broken dreams

Wasting away worthless and disgraced
trying to push the pain down low but it won't hold
how do you live with out your own soul?
i need to recognize myself on the inside
i want to remind you that i'm disgraced
because you left me here worthless wasted away
do you recognize the pain?
