Fire In the Wind

Fire In the Wind

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

It seems like my whole life

the world seems to bring me down

the weight begins to drain on my shoulders now

my legs give out

and I feel so far away from paradise

The darkness fills my nights

bring the light back to my life

the sun does not rise to my side

the cold sets in and burns out the fire

I’m so broke down and alone

never will I make it back home

the fires gone and I’m so cold

I waste away, no skin left to my bones

You took my eyes, now I’m blind

the darkness is here and I have no light

I still keep thinking I can save my own life

but you have that stored and locked away

so I can feel the pain of everyday

You hold me high and steal my fire

stripped me of everything I thought was mine
