When it Rains

When it Rains

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

Let’s go get lost in the rain

let’s get wet and lose all our pains

nothing can replace what we had

nothing will change but this feels strange

but I know you’ll remember the love I gave

The lightning ignites the sky

all of those black nights

we stayed up all day crying

you will always be in my life

but I have to leave this life behind

so for tonight I say good-bye

I never knew that I could leave

I never knew how much I could believe

as I watch in autumn the falling leafs

how far I have come and who I have become

but I know that your love I will always keep

The rain soaks in and takes away the pain

but I knew there was something missing

I needed to get away

I grow my wings

you begin to sing as I fly away

There was this shadow following me

it stole everything in me that I could be

but I light up the sky when I believe

you know that I’ll come back to you, you’ll see

open, honest and flowing great as always. I like the idea behind the poem, and you've used the semantics well. nice work!!

A unique and original way of looking at a common poetic device, that being the rain...very nice.
