Just A Memory

Just A Memory

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

So you wanted me gone
you wanted me to fall apart
you wanted me to live this life as a scar
you wanted me to rip out my soul and tear out my heart
you just wanted me dead all along

You’re the reason I’m just a memory
you’re the reason I’m fading away
you’re the reason I will never be
I guess I will just be a jaded memory
and you’re the one to blame
I guess things will never change

As I lay here screaming
I slowly start to drift away
 as I lay here crying
I slowly start to fall asleep
 as I lay here dying
my heart starts slowing and I’m too late

I start to rot away nowhere to find me
I’m left here for dead with no memories
I’ll soon just be a dead memory
you wanted me scared on my heart
you wanted me dead all along
you are the one to blame
I guess I’ll be on my way
 just a faded memory

Wow, the words in this are quite powerful and yet, meaning full. Awesome work :) Keep up the great work! (Geez, I feel like an English teacher now -.-'')

Strong words indeed...a devastating finale with an almost-audible sigh of resignation...a powerful rebuttal against betrayal.
