These Tears

These Tears

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

I fell out of a window

Landed in the mists of these shadows

In darkness the evil comes alive

My ghosts begin to rise

And try pulling me down

Today I will not let them make me drown

Today I let it all shine

And I’m going to take back my life

No more will l take advantage

Or lead my life in shambles

I’ll carry on once more

As my past I don’t live anymore

I ask of you

Give me life and let me live on through

Guide my ghosts to the light

Revive my soul

Cover up my graves hole

In my eyes

Make me new

I ask of you

Don’t let me get used

Why does everyone want to hurt me?

Why am I so empty?

Why do I live on?

When my life feels so gone

Every day I feel like I don’t belong

The truth only hurts

When it becomes your lies

To the unseen eye

Its unspoken words

They don’t see that my heart is on fire

You want to wash me away

With these words that you say

Here is this black rose

That I will set on your grave stone

These are my tears

Can you see my pain?
