Kill Me Softly

Kill Me Softly

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

I’m swimming through the dead

Blood thick as my regrets

No one was prepared of what happened next

Drowning in this life

This is my last night

I’m trying to move on

I’ve been a shadow for too long

Bring me the light

So that I can carry it on

Nothing is like today

Don’t just let me fade away

I have lost what I live for

Everything that I cherish and adore

Has been locked and sealed behind closed doors

The love I need

I just can’t get anymore

So kill me softly

I’m playing with fire

Burning my memories to this life

I seem to be giving up trying

Swimming through my regrets dying

It’s just a madder of time

Before I drown myself blind

I have sealed my way out

In shallow water of pain I drown

There’s no turning back now

Drowning in this life

This is my last night
