Consumed In Fear

Consumed In Fear

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

Acid rain on the tip of my tongue

My hearts been broken

Using crutches to stay up

There’s no way of making this end

I drop my last tear

Consumed in my own fear

In this wasteland for years

Nowhere to go

Nothing left to hold

My heart blue and cold

But what hurts the most

Is to know that I am all out of hope

Bring me up

Just to let me down

The cruelest joke

I was such a fool

My heart is what you hold

In your hate

Is where you let it drown

In your chains

There’s no way to get out

Let me shine

Just to take the light

Let me rise

Just to break me inside

Tell me you love me

Just to leave me empty

Embrace my world

Just to take my memories

And watch them burn

Black with black

As they all attack

Floating ashes

As they begin to clash

Leave me in scars

Clinching my heart

Making my life too hard

I never knew you would take it this far
