Are You There?

Are You There?

A Poem by Brandon Mathis

We all hope you’re out there

To take care of us so we aren’t scared

We all need something to believe in

To help us start something to begin

But we can’t win

When we keep fighting until the end

I have one foot in the grave

Wishing that someone would save me

Tell me that I’m not crazy

Tell me that they don’t hate me

Am I still alive on the inside?

Or am I just so damn deprived

Cause tonight is the last chance to save my life

I have broken so many hearts

But I have never been through something so hard

Left to a world that is so scarred

The sun doesn’t rise anymore it is so dark

I didn’t realize that life would bring me this far

There is an angel that you don’t see

Hovering around so that you won’t bleed

He used to hover above the clouds

Now something keeps him buried underground

We all want to believe with-out any doubts

But what happens when you’re screaming with-out any sound

I hope that you’re out there somewhere

Keeping me one step from my grave

One tragedy from being crazy

All alone I hear that angel scream

But does anyone seem to care

Do they really believe that you’re there?
