What Hurts the MostA Poem by Brandon MathisWhen I lose control I have lost grasp of your hold I’m sorry that I let go When I don’t have you That is what hurts the most It feels like tomorrow was just yesterday My soul is numb but I still feel all this pain I’m starting to sink in my own sorrows When everything that I try to gain Everything seems to get in my way My heart has never felt so hollow As another tear drops It is like my world has stopped Blaming me for everything that I am not My heart is burning from your words And my chest is steaming it is so hot As your words begin to hurt My heart finally begins to pop It feels like death is in the shadows Waiting for my last breath Another day I wait to be cast out But what hurts the most Is to know I had to let you go I see him in the corner As I start to crawl on the floor His eyes shift towards me I let him know he will have to steal This last breath in me But what hurts the most Is to know that I have to let you go © 2012 Brandon MathisReviews
