One More Moment

One More Moment

A Poem by Brandon Mathis
"

Me and my brother haven't talked in almost a year and he won't let me see my niece so this came out.

"

I wish I could change the past

I wish that I could have you all back

I want one more moment

But the pain just doesn’t quit

I wish I could get you to love me again

I want our broken hearts to mend

In the end I can’t change your mind

I want you back in my life

I sit here and cry

And I want you to be by my side

I just want one more moment

Maybe I could make this all end

I don’t understand why you want me dead

I just can’t get that through my head

There are so many feelings that I have left

I know that I have so many regrets

Can you forgive before I am laid to rest?

I just want one more moment

To mend everything that is broken

Just please give me the chance

I can change in the end

I can prove to you I can be a better man

I just want you to know who I am

I don’t want to grow apart

With my still sinking heart

I don’t want our left to a bleeding scar

I just want one more moment

Before our lives end

There is nothing sadder or more heart-wrenching than a divided family, and for whatever reason, the last generation or two have produced all too many of those. It's just another depressing sign of the times. With regards to your poem, it truly is a shame that personal turmoil is usually what brings out the best in an artist. I think this is one of the best you've done.

Pain, sadness, longing, desperation...those are some of the heart-felt emotions that I can clearly see...if I were ur brother I would simply forgive u at that sudden moment...the pain u feel is marked in stone and the I see the deep scars, if not cuts. Your words mirror hurt. Combining with tears. They are devastatingly touching and due to this...I salute ur poem and thank the emotions that u put to paper. My apologies for the lengthy review. Just wanted to express my findings. I love it lots. Did ur brother forgive u though?

I can really feel the pain, sadness, and depth while yearning for just one more moment in this poem, very nice work.
