Death ValleyA Poem by Brandon MathisYou’re trying to pull me down in this Death Valley The shadow of hell’s gates, I can see This must be a dream or I’m going crazy So hang me on this noose And strip me of everything that I can lose Watch me slowly die as there is nothing I can do In this Death Valley I lose all my faith I break down and wither away To the emptiness I have come to know Will I rise above or succumb to all the pain You are starting to burn me Nothing left but a little blood stain I feel ashamed With abandonment in my heart Left to an open wound scar I feel the blame As the shame falls all around In space a star cries with-out a sound But in this Death Valley it’s only he who holds the crown If I fall to my knees Will you carry me home, please? Or am I abandoned here for eternity If I am, will you erase me? I will never get my sweet serenity I will always be plunging in this Death Valley © 2012 Brandon MathisReviews
