The Clickbait News

A Story by Manish Bhatt

The screen was covered in its entirety by the torrential rains that were falling somewhere. In about 5 seconds, the images zoomed out and water filled roads were visible as were some vehicles (which is how the assumption of a road was made). Water had come upto the level of the vehicle windows (a sedan vehicle to be specific; SUVs still had some leeway). The windows themselves had fogged out and as such whether there were people inside could not be made out (assuming the fogging was from the breaths being taken, we can then logically assume that there were people inside).

The golden coloured shooting star symbol of ‘Breaking News’ channel was visible at the top-left of the screen. Breaking news which wasn’t being covered at the moment was running across from left to right on a scroll at the bottom of the screen. Just above the scroll, a reporter’s (who was currently invisible on the screen) name had been published - Jugadu Prasad. And next to it, where the name of the place from which reporting was being done should have been, was blacked out.

And suddenly, in big red font, the word  kept flashing at the center of the screen. And then the screen zoomed out a bit more and on what seemed a terrace, a face appeared - presumably, Jugadu Prasad.

And then a long flurry of ads started.
