6A Chapter by kittyEmmet went to the room the girl had been left in and opened the door. “Go get in the car.” She complied wordlessly, which was nice. He leaned into the vacated room and called Neric. “No luck,” he told him. “Nothing?” Neric sounded sulky, like a fat-cheeked child deprived of his gumdrop. Emmet rapped his foot brutally against the carpeting. The b*****d. “Nothing.” “Did you even try to convince him?” “He couldn't be convinced.” They watched each other for a moment. “The girl was a mistake,” Emmet said. “She seemed unremarkable. Kinda cute.” “People stared.” Neric shook his head. “Not that cute.” “She wasn't cute, they didn't stare because she was cute. I think it was her eyes.” “She had nice eyes?” “She has idealistic eyes.” Neric rolled his eyes. “Whatever. B*****s are b*****s. You think too much.” Emmet shrugged. “She was a mistake,” he repeated. “I expect you to convince him,” Neric warned before hanging up. Emmet stood for a split second, headed back through the music and toxic laughter, and climbed into the car. The girl stared at him as he sent it spinning along the tube. He ignored her, relaxing into the hum of the vehicle. “You want to be dropped off anywhere in particular?” he asked finally. She shook her head. He settled in the leather seat again. “Who are you?” she asked. © 2014 kittyReviews
