I shine only for you

i am not really a poet i mostly write short stories ..i am posting this ..its a review to a dear friend who asked me to post it as a poem ..i am doing as she wishes

i call you by so many names ..but they are all the same
in your arms i feel love like i never felt..my whole life
at nights you by my side ..nothing takes you away from me
when i am lost ..i lean on you ..you offer all the answers..and i lay back just like a queen
when at times i am afraid of life..my hero the brave will always drive harm away
when i am weak and never knowing what to do..you are always there to take the lead to the safe shores..with me
you always make life good and sweet for me..taking lots of care of me
and after a long day ..feeling it too much for me
i whisper ..i love you dear

Beautifully written. That has to be the best review anyone has ever gotten here! Very heartfelt and you can tell by how common the conversation is, that it's sincere. I don't know the nature of your relationship with this person, but it's obviously strong and loving to have inspired such words to describe it!

I find it hard to believe good writers when they say "they're not really poets". I think poets are writers who convey creative writings in ALL forms, and they do it with emotion and perspective scenery. You may need to look both ways because if not, someone will actually read these words, and call you a poet! I know I just did......

You say you are not a poet. But what is poetry exactly? To me, it is the soulful emanation of ones heart through words, nature or art. It doesn't have to be metrically correct or follow rules for true poetry is timeless, emotional, a canvas of creativity. This is what your poem says to me; spoken word coming from a man's heart. This is priceless and yes, it looks very good.
