The Ferryman

The Ferryman

A Poem by BAMBE ABASS ABIDEMI
"

Silent sleep in silent lake

"
Last night wore a raven dark cloak
She robbed the stars of their jewelry
So did she betrayed us.

They said she brought the ferryman,
Channel his path to our stead
And took our wise grey who fell asleep.

Last night sold to the ferryman
Like judas, a dignity of no value
If We could only listen as they discussed.

They said she's on an island.
For all was dark even when the c***s cease
To crow, for they are married to hunger now.

The owl on the iroko we hate to look
Could tell, but none could ask
We've sought not its horrendous wisdom, why now?

She left and bid us no bye
Married to the ferryman
I heard he'll come for us all.
