Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams

A Poem by Your Ten Last Words

Behind my closed eyelids
I could see nothing
But my own rotten destiny,
Shadowed by falsehood.
The torture of existence
Is slowly bleeding out from my heart.
Pain makes me numb.
My vision blurs and dulls.
The world around me starts fading.
I struggle to keep my eyelids open.
No, I can't go yet.
I feel your warm presence next to me,
Your cold breath on my neck,
As you bend down.
'Sweet dreams.' You whisper softly in my ear.
I ask of your sweet voice to sooth my pain,
But instead it leaves me burning, clinging from my wounds,
Faced with an immobilizing fear.
And then you're gone, and I'm all alone.
I feel weightless, tired.
The world around me blurs and fades.
It's gone.

And then I am, too.
