Judgment

Judgment

A Poem by Austin Fern
"

Too many people judge another based solely on the color of their skin.

"

Judgement

Black, red, yellow, white.

Too many judge on sight.

We judge character based on skin

and not on what is within.

Thousands of children cry

from the whispered lies

that neither party truly understands.

They don’t have to understand.

They recognize the intent to hurt.

Towering trees don’t look down on flowers

and mock their lack of unity.

The ocean doesn't look to at the pond

and laugh at its inferior size.

There is no need for preset conceptions

for all the denominations.

Realization needs to strike like an asteroid

that there is no rationalization

for blind hate generation after generation.

Lay down your rusted, silver sword

and pick up your black heart.

Pass judgement solely on character

and don’t assume character from the color of one’s skin.
