What If?A Poem by Austin FernWhat if life on Earth, could be better than dreams of Heaven? What If? What if the world forgot about hate? what if we united with love and changed our fate? What if we moved out feet to laughter’s beat and didn’t bother to cheat and kindness was more than just a rare treat? Instead we continue to kill in vaine over God’s true name while dropping the rules he wished to ingrain to prove our God is deserving of his fame. We teach our children to hate others for who they are. We keep those that are different locked and trapped behind iron bars. We lash out and ruin lives simply because we don’t understand. Hate is not in human nature. Hate is taught. Hate is taught from the pointless wars fought. Hate is taught from every lost soul bought. Hate is taught from every dream crushed and left to rot. Love is what we stand and preach; yet love is not what we teach. Love is not the goal we are trying to reach. Is this the world we truly want? We claim to want change, yet refuse to rise to our feet. Yet, we refuse to try. We live in our world built on a lie. A world where too many are content to die. Where the young are content to ponder suicide. Where war is as constant as the tide. Where we are all content to be blind. So I ask, what if? What if instead crying, we laughed? Instead of hating, we loved? Instead of shying away, we reached out? What if life on Earth, could become better than dreams of Heaven? So I ask, what if? © 2014 Austin FernFeatured Review
