What if?

What if?

A Poem by MelLM

I can pick you up;

Place you on the pedestal on which you belong.

I can lift you to the heavens.

I can present to God the true beauty that you are.

I can be your legs if you feel frail;

If you cannot stand.

I can be your perseverance,

Your hope.

Your guide.

But what if I was not here?

What if I simply ceased to exist,

Exist with you? For you?

What if I left you to be completely and utterly alone?

What if,

Suddenly,

You had to fend for yourself,

Just like I do,

Every single day.
