"Okay."A Story by MelLM
Everyone tells me, don't let the opinions of others be the basis for your decisions. I tried that; I explored.
When I returned, when I left, and as I was there, people said "Don't go. " I went. I explored. I went on an adventure. I had fun. When I returned I had emptiness greet me as I was welcomed with disgust. "You shouldn't have gone." they said. "I went. " I replied. "That was a bad choice. " they said. "I went. " I replied. "We will never let you forget this." they said. "Okay. " I replied. "You should feel horrible about yourself. " they said. "Why?" I asked. "that was a bad choice. " they said. "Okay." I replied. "You're a bad person. " they said. " "I'm sorry." I replied. "Don't apologize, learn from what you did. " they said. "Okay." I replied as I silently nodded as I accepted the fact that I'd never know or understand what I did wrong. I made a decision, felt happiness, then was punished. Whenever it arises, I'm met with this overwhelming feeling of guilt or something I will never see as wrong. "Okay. " I will respond. © 2013 MelLM |
