this is about one lonely girl's child abuse

Not Tonight

In the dark come the footsteps
Echoing in her ears
Not tonight, cries the girlchild
Not tonight she does pray

But her prayers go unanswered
And her pain she hides in shame
How much longer can she endure this
Her suffering grows with each passing day

But in the harshness of reality
She knows what fate does bring
Only she can end her suffering
For no one else can know her pain

In the darkness comes the answer
Through the pain she is released
There will be no more footsteps
There will be no more shame

Not tonight, cries the girlchild
Not tonight, she prays no more

Nothing describing the events that you have gone through, as a survivor of child abuse, can be too dark. Personally, i was never raped or sexually molested, i know what it is like to go through physical and verbal abuse as a child and teenager. Am still trying to undo the damage from those years in my life. Writing this poem is a sign that you're healing and able to face these very dark demons of your past. Thank you for sharing this personal and traumatic experiences with us in your poem.
