Back to My BabyA Poem by Brenden TaylorRiding down the highway Out to the beat the sun About fifty-seven miles Down Highway Forty-One Gotta get back to my baby On the other side of the state Cause if she heard about last night She'd want my head on a silver plate I was up north in Kentucky Playing a country show When a pretty little brown-eyed Aphrodite Was dancing in the front row She said, "I dig your lyrics, man You sound like you've been around the world You've taught me how to forgive my man Let me show you how to forget your girl" But I gotta get back to my baby Before she sees the sunshine 'Cause if the sun comes up And I'm not home My baby's gonna lose her mind She caught me walking out the door She grabbed me by the hand She said, "Boy, you give me what I want 'Cause I get it when I can" I said ma'am I must apologize If your heart is what I felt But if I did this here and now with you I could never forgive myself So let me get back to my baby Before she sees the sunshine 'Cause if the sun comes up And I'm not home My baby's gonna lose her mind
