The Bathtub

The Bathtub

A Poem by blowing your cover

In this one,

you might recall

I soaked alone in a hot bath

being cleansed, refreshed, purified

the curtain parted

and there you were

to my delight

the one I desired to spend time with

there you stood

I beckoned you to join me

you removed all

save for your shorts

willing to be cleansed of most

but not all

refusing to give up that one thing

that one thing

that one thing that holds you back

and that one area

that one door that was opened

allowing a slew of demons to bombard me

"You will be abused terribly", I heard

yet in denial as to the source or the reason

the shift occured

when I needed to prove to you

my passion, my real-life desire

what I held out to you on a silver platter of reality

stripping almost bare for you

photographs, just for you

to show you

a clean woman is not dull

in fact, the opposite is true

the heat that is found in a woman who guards it

who preserves it

who does not openly share it or flaunt it

or speak of it

perhaps I made a mistake

in opening that door

not intending to incite lust

but prove your theories wrong

I suppose that's when it shifted and changed

rather than laying down your virtual games

and tasting my morsels

you created even more virtual cake

covering yourself with batter and frosting

so satisfied with your electronic creations

yet so very hungry... in reality

I have nothing to lose

no longer desiring you

only wanting you to open your eyes and

be free

we all deserve it

no matter who we are

This is fabulous, really. I can relate to it in several different ways and I feel like I know EXACTLY where you were coming from when you wrote this poem. Your choice of words, your metaphors, how you described the setting and the characters involved--perfect. I am VERY eager to go and read more of your poems! Please keep writing!
