A Game of let's Pretend

A Game of let's Pretend

A Poem by Aya Hyuuga

All I am is pretending
I pretend to like things
I pretend to hate things
Most of all I pretend to be happy

To friends, I look problem free
To family, I look happy-go-lucky
When will all this end?
I really wonder when.

I already want to stop.
All this pretending is getting in my mind.
I need to escape this fantasy
Before I fail to recognize reality.

Most of us have fake face and smile. Keep us safe from pity.
"I need to escape this fantasy
Before I fail to recognize reality."
Easy to forget the true face. I liked the above lines an thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

This is a piece more potent the more I re-read it. Profound because some — if not "most" — people appear to have no clue when they have lost the view of the line between fantasy (or their own perceived reality) and actual reality. Escaping it occasionally is a must, failing to recognize it is...is what, to be what is called normal?
Thank you for the share
