AdultA Poem by MeganThe internal struggles some newly-becoming adults feel.Adult.
You can
do this on your own now.
I’ve
been doing it on my own for years.
Adult.
You don’t
need any help anymore.
I don’t
want to face this all on my own.
Adult.
Treat
her like your equal now.
I can’t
take the yelling and screaming.
Adult.
I can’t
wait until you’re out of the house.
I don’t
want to leave my home; I grew up here.
You’re
an adult now. You don’t need our help. This is a wonderful journey for you and
a start to a new life.
I’m an
adult now. I can’t do this without help. This is a scary journey for me and it
marks the end of my old childhood.
Adult.
Isn’t it great to be an
